The purpose of this checklist is to make certain that you have all the required
information prior to starting your quote. Horizon Printed Circuits has streamlined
the quoting process down to only eight fields so there isn’t a lot of information
required for the quote.
- Determine the number of printed circuit boards that you want assembled. It is most
important to know the minimum number because our automatic quote will give pricing
with applicable price breaks for the number you enter and several larger quantities.
- Count the number of lines on the Bill of Material (BOM). This number will be required
to tell us how many different manufacturers parts are in your project.
- Determine if your PCB has surface mount components on both sides
- Decide if you will require Lead-Free processing
- Count the number of SMT components. These parts have packages like 0402, 0603, 0805,
1206 ect... There are many types of components that fit into this category so if
you’re wondering which category a part fits in, chances are it is here.
- Count the Fine Pitch components. These are leaded components that have a pitch (distance
from the center of one lead to the center of the next lead) of less then 20 mil.
- Count the number of Thru-Hole components. These parts fit through holes in the circuit
board and get soldered from the side opposite the component. Old style resistors
and capacitors are examples of Thru-Hole components.
- Count Leadless/BGA/QFN components. The count of these components will be lumped
together into one category. These components have no leads or leads that are totally
beneath the component.
